I think that some of the rules do make life easier. For example, there's no good in smoking at a workplace. And the privacy policy must be respected by all means. But in my opinion, all the rules must be carefully measured: the list of rules shouldn't be too long and detailed so that it doesn't contradict itself and confuse the workers :)
