We have already discussed the plight of Europe's Roma at our lesson but I couldn't imagine what poor conditions they live under! They live in the outskirts of towns and their houses resemble shanties! The appearance of Roma adults and children proves that they live in extreme poverty. However, the EU doesn't do enough to alleviate the plight of Roma that depends on concrete policies of european countries. Much more needs to be done to help Roma effectively. In my opinion, the European Union and member states must make every effort to solve this problem as the situation undermines one of the most essential basic human rights-equality of all people regardless of nationality, race, confession, gender and age.
I was really impressed by this video, as i have always thought that Roma people are as free as wind. I saw them dancing, singing their beautiful songs, playing the guitar, wearing their numerous colorful skirts but alas! They have very serious problems. And I wish their problems to be solved.
Roma's life is hard and short-lived. The majority of Roma live in poverty without receiving any benefits or medical aid. Conditions in Roma settlements on the edges of town and village rival Africa or India for their deprivation. But they do not do anything to change life for the better. It would appear they are quite satisfied with this way of life. So why society should worry about it if they have responsibilities neither to themselves nor to society
I see Roma people in the streets every day but till today I have never thought about their life. They seem to be contented with themselves and their life because they don't try to find a job. Now I begin to realise that they have no possibilities for that, thay have no the same rights as the citizens have. Of course, it's a global problem and it must be solved in the nearest future. I'm very glad to see from this video that people in Europe are worried about tnis problem and they try to find decision, for example, access to housing, employment and education for Roma people. I think, people must be aware of conditions under Roma people live and then they will be willing to help, to respect them and not to marginalize them.
