  1. I think there is nothing left and no one who has not been affected by Covid-19. And especially our education system. We need to be flexible during this unprecedented time and it is very important because none of us have ever experienced it before. Of course, we have a lot of benefits while staying at home and studying in front of our computers or laptops. We don’t need to spent so much time for going to the university (for some students it even takes more than one hour to get to the university), we can spend more time with our families. Also, online education offers more individual attention. But, in my opinion, it has more disadvantages than advantages. According to my own experience, the main problem of online education is poor internet connection. There is nothing you can do when you face to this problem, online learning just becomes impossible. The next problems I faced to during the lockdown were health problems, both physical and mental. Because of spending too much time in front of the laptop and having no time to even go outside, I had terrible headaches and pain in my eyes. And studying alone with only the computer as your companion can be terrifying for some people, especially for extraverts and the sensible ones who always need their classmates’ support and motivating words, for example, during examinations.
To solve these problems, all of us need to team up. Teachers need to be more understanding and try not to overtask the students. Meanwhile the students should learn how to organize their time and try to hand in all the work in time.

  2. This year almost everyone has faced online learning because of coronavirus pandemic that captured the whole world. Virtual education is very different from in-person classroom learning. From my point of view, we should pay our attention to some aspects of such learning.
First of all, in terms of convenience I suppose online learning is much better for some students as you should not go anywhere, everything which you need for education is a laptop, fast internet and a separate room, so that no one can disturb you.
On the other hand, it is evident that the lack of communication, the mental and physical health problems that we get during online learning make us very depressed, annoyed and frustrated.
Another problem to be taken into consideration is student`s performance. I believe that compared to online learning classroom learning is much more effective as without communication, especially at our faculty, it is impossible to improve our language skills and obviously, it is very difficult for teachers to keep an eye open for cheating through the computer screens.
From my own experience, I can certainly say that in-person learning is better though I did not have any problems with internet or my space or even with my siblings. The only problem I have was mental and health problem as my back ached all the time, my vision got worse and I became morose and withdrawn. That`s why I hope that this academic year there will be no quarantine and students will study as usual.

  4. Distance learning have become a salvation for students and teachers in such a difficult time, when we faced pandemic and lockdown. Undoubtedly, distance learning offers wide variety of opportunities to students to attain higher education, but there is some disadvantages as well.
I've found e-learning very comfortable as it offers students the flexibility to decide the time and place of learning. Students get the opportunity to be the master of their own schedule.
Another advantage is that students don't have to spend so much time and money to get to the University, the only thing they need is good connection of internet.
However, there is another point of view on this issue.
First of all, it is the lack of communication and motivation. The students used to discuss some themes in free time, to support each other, and that helps many of them to escape the meltdown. So, losing the opportunity of physical interaction, students become more stressful and withdraw into themselves.
The biggest problem of virtual education, to my mind, is that the distance learning don’t help in developing oral skills and social interactions. And this has an important value in our faculty.
As for me, there was not any problems with online learning as I had the best conditions for it, but anyway, i'd prefer classroom learning, because I can see my friends face-to-face. It's much better than being in a room alone.

  5. Distance learning, also called distance education, e-learning, and online learning, form of education in which the main elements include physical separation of teachers and students during instruction and the use of various technologies to facilitate student-teacher and student-student communication. Virtual learning traditionally has focused on nontraditional students, such as full-time workers, military personnel, and nonresidents or individuals in remote regions who are unable to attend classroom lectures.
DL does not include any in-person interaction with an instructor or study peers. Students study at home on their own, and the learning is more individual and varies on speed and timeline according to each individual student and their availability.
I think that it is extremely important for those who cannot attend programs due to health complications, severe social anxiety, busy work schedules or parenting demands, or any other situations which make it necessary to be confined to the home.
We can differentiate four types of virtual learning: online courses, hybrid courses, conference classes, correspondence courses.

  6. This year the whole world was faced the coronavirus pandemic, which has affected many areas of human activity, including the educational system. In this case, online learning became a solution to this problem. Since I have some experience in virtual education, I would like to point out its pros and cons.
First of all, speaking of its advantages, we should admit that it’s convenient as the student doesn’t need to leave the house to visit the university, which is essential during the lockdown. Many students enjoy working at the computer as they find this way of working more comfortable. All you need is a computer, fast Internet and a little bit of personal space, where no one will disturb you while your classes.
Moreover, during online education you have an opportunity to save your time, which you spend on transport to get to the university. But several drowbacks should be taken into account. Speaking about myself, the most important disadvantage of e-learning was the deterioration of my physical and mental health. By the end of the day, I had pain in my back and eyes and sometimes I felt overtasked. Besides, during online learning, I realized how important it is to communicate face-to-face with the other students and teachers. I believe many students felt lonely and in this case in-person learning is more preferable for me. Moreover, many students and even teachers were poorly technically equipped, which also caused some difficulties.
Nevertheless, after a while, everyone teamed up and managed to adapt to such kind of learning. To some extent I am glad that I experienced e-learning, because after I tied both options I realized that virtual learning is not my cup of tea. I believe that online learning shouldn’t change in-person classroom learning, especially if it is a school education. In any case, if we have to face this again, I am sure that both students and teachers will take into account their mistakes and team up to achieve better results.

This year has been a huge challenge for all of us. We faced a huge problem of distance education, although we were not ready for it, but we had to learn to be flexible and adapt to the new rhythm of learning.
Throughout distance learning, I have noticed many advantages, although there were many disadvantages.
Advantages of distance education: firstly, since I live in Kaspiysk and go to university every day, I did not have to get up early to be in time, I could wake up half an hour before the start of the first class. I think this is a big plus. Secondly, studying at home allowed me to manage my time myself, since we had deadlines for completing the assignment and I could pass some subject much earlier and be calm, or do it by the deadline, which was also sometimes useful. Thirdly, I was not distracted by my classmates during training, but was completely immersed in my studies. I also believe that people with disabilities and people who live in other cities and regions had free access to education.
Disadvantages of distance learning. Firstly, I am a very socially active girl, and I faced the fact that I lacked real communication with my friends and teachers. It was also as inconvenient as possible to study at home when you share a room with your mom. Thirdly, during distance learning, my eyesight deteriorated and my back problems increased. Fourth, it was difficult to have work and life balance. Fifth, at times I had problems with the Internet and computer.
I believe that distance education has its advantages and should be further developed, since it opens the door to the future, when you can not be tied to a certain place of residence, but you can get education anywhere and anytime. After the quarantine, we saw the weaknesses of our Education system and now we have the opportunity to fix this.

  8. What a blessing that the quarantine is over. After all, no matter how convenient it is in some way, it has as many disadvantages as advantages. The attitude to quarantine and training of students during the forced cancellation of classes is very different for all people involved. There are many advantages in distance learning: improving the quality of education, a calm comfortable environment, an individual approach, access to educational materials. There are more opportunities for in-person learning of the subject during lockdown. Whatever one may say, distance learning is a time saver. At least on the way to school and back, for packing, changing into uniforms and home clothes. But there are also disadvantages in this training: communication skills do not develop, there is no live communication, there are no practical skills, there is no way to check who passes the online test, online exam, performs work without cheating. As far as I'm concerned, the main problem of online education is poor internet connection. There is nothing you can do when you face to this problem. We can talk a lot about the pros and cons of distance learning, but at this time we just simply had no other choice.

  9. The end of March 2020 was marked by soft closure, which was planned to last a couple of weeks. But as we all know, the quarantine lingered until the end of the educational year. Distance learning was a novelty and a challenge for students and teachers, as a result of which they were forced to go out of their comfort zone. Of course, it is difficult to look for advantages in the situation that has developed in such an unprecedented time, but nevertheless I think it is important to emphasize them. The first and perhaps the main advantage is that the learning process continued and students were able to get new knowledge without wasting their time. In addition to the knowledge already mentioned, we also received new unique skills. For example, we have learned to be more adaptive, or we have learned to distribute the load and manage our time. In the end, we felt that we are being accountable not only to the University, but also to ourselves. Despite the fact that direct contact with teachers got cut down, two-way-communication has been established with the help of technologies. I think this is a good experience that is necessary for a teacher. However, distance learning has caused a lot of anxiety and stress. Unusual conditions and overtasking have affected both physical and mental health of students and teachers. I think this problem is also related to the lack of direct contact, since teachers, being at home, could not team up and discuss the level of workload. The students, in turn, were convinced that they were alone in this situation, as they did not see their classmates facing the same amount of work and problems, which caused meltdowns as a result. Nevertheless, I believe that quarantine has given us a unique opportunity to learn how to manage ourselves, our activities, time and emotions, and learn how to be mentally resilient. I can say with confidence that we went an extra mile and I truly thank all the teachers for providing knowledge and my classmates for their support.
